The low-cost Indian
airline, SpiceJet has launched domestic flight tickets
sales at 'rates cheaper than AC 2-Tier train fares', offering 1.50 Lakh seats
for prices as low as Rs 999 on its domestic routes for the travel period of three-and-a -half months
starting July 1.
The latest
low-fare offer from the airline under new promoter Ajay Singh is available to
passengers travelling with only cabin baggage which is only a 7kg weight, a press
release said.
The budget
Airline announced, for flyers who want to carry more than the allowed 7 kg
cabin baggage at this sales offer of discounted tickets can check-in baggage up
to 15-kg which will be charged at a flat rate of Rs 750.
Book a
flight under this three-day sale offer 'Travel
Light'. Bookings commences on 27 April for travel period between July 1 and
October 15. The July-September and January-March periods are considered a low
travel demand period in the domestic aviation sector in the country.
'SpiceJet
Effect' on demand stimulation has led to record airline passenger growth in the
country year-on-year, driving the highest growth rate in the world as per IATA
data, the airline said.
"With this
latest 'Travel Light' offer, SpiceJet is making its name on the top of domestic
airlines with discounted fares so that passengers only pay for what goods and
services they want to consume," SpiceJet chief Operating Officer Sanjiv
Kapoor said.
The ‘Travel
Light” sale is a good way to travel as you save more as prices are lesser than
even the train fares of AC 2-Tier. Travelling light with limited baggage of 7kg
also helps lower fuel consumption and emissions and it is smarter and more
environmental-friendly way to travel, Kapoor added.
